Leadership is a concept that can literally be talked about, debated over and written on every second of every day. The ideal business leader is many times shown as a ruthless and win at all cost type such as Steve Jobs and the other billionaire visionaries who innovated and grew great companies with great products.
Godly leadership though is a whole different beast all together. Business leadership traits can be good in a Godly leader but today I want to look at 3 characteristics all Godly leaders must possess:
An Unmatched Love in their Life for Jesus
A Godly leader must love Jesus more than anything else in their life. More than their family, more than their friends, more than growing their church, more than their local ministry context, more than their platform.
A Godly leader must not only show a love for Jesus in their public life but also their private life. They must spur people on to love Jesus publicly as well as devote themselves to the private disciplines of the faith. A required task of Godly leadership is to commit yourself to daily prayer and Bible study.
A Deep Passion to see People Reached for Jesus with the Gospel
Every Godly leader must possess a deep passion to see people reached for Jesus in their community and in the world. We all have different methods, systems, and tactics to get this done but all Godly leaders have this passion.
How are you cultivating this passion in your life and ministry?
A General Posture of Selflessness
The final required characteristic of Godly leadership is a life committed to selflessness. Godly leadership is modeled after Jesus and who could ever be more selfless than the man who died on the cross for the entire world?
How are you committed to living a selfless life? How are you putting others before you and your own interests? These are important questions to ask if you are a leader.
After these three characteristics different leaders can have different characteristics but these three are so vital for Godly leaders. Loving Jesus, having a passion to see people reached with the Gospel, and being selfless are so important for leaders in God’s Kingdom here on Earth.
What Characteristics do you see as Important in Godly Leaders?
